which of these excusesAn excuse a day keeps success away.

What excuses have you used recently?

Perhaps you don’t have enough money.  Or maybe you just don’t have enough time.  Or it could be that you just haven’t caught the right “breaks.”

You can always find an excuse for any failure.

And you might even find a really good excuse…but it never moves you forward and closer to your goals.

Let’s take the “no time” excuse.  Maybe you are totally overworked.  You spent 60 hours at your job last week and then you had to cook dinner for the kids.  You’re worn out, and not getting any better.

How will this change for you next week?

Allowing yourself the opportunity to make the excuse makes it harder next time to get past it.

Building a business online takes time.  It takes commitment.  You might have zero social life for a while.  You’ll definitely won’t have time to solve the crimes on CSI or know what is happening on Grey’s Anatomy.

How about this one?

“It’s too hard.”

Compared to what?   It’s definitely harder to get the momentum moving than just putting in your time punching a time clock.

But I’d definitely debate you on it being too hard.  There is a steep learning curve in the beginning.  We even use strange lingo like autoresponders, HTML, Flash, mp4, shopping carts, seo, linking, etc.  But if you take it one step at a time, it’s a much better life long-term.

You will have to educate yourself.  You have to enjoy the learning process.  If you’re not comfortable with that, then it’s not for you.

“I don’t have any money.”

So what?  I didn’t have any money when I got started online either.  In fact I didn’t even have a computer.  I bought my first PC on a Best Buy credit card so I could start learning about the Internet.

There is a ton of information online for free.

You can get a web host for less than $10 a month and around $10 a month to get started with an autoresponder for building your list.  I’m sure you can find $20 a month you can give up to get started somewhere in your budget.

I’ve heard my wife’s friends talking about being broke…while they were playing with their iPhone and watching their cable TV.

Uh-huh.  That leads you back to priorities.  You can get started online for cheap, but you’re still going to have to make some sacrifices to reach your goals.

“There aren’t any profitable markets left.”

I heard that one recently and I wondered what in the world they had been smoking.

There are thousands of profitable markets available.  Where you find people spending money, you have a potential profitable market.

What is really meant by that statement is there aren’t any profitable markets without competitors.  They couldn’t just “coast” to success in any market they found.

Of course not.   The key to thriving in competition is finding innovations…better ways to deliver the results your customers are looking for.  This could be with an improvement on what is already out there or a radical change in focus.

Remember, an excuse a day keeps success away.

It’s your choice about whether you make excuses or make changes.  Everyone has the opportunity to make excuses for something in their situation.  And those excuses stand in the way of real meaningful change.

Life isn’t fair.  That much is clear.  The question is what you’re going to do about it…
