It’s almost 2023 already!
Hopefully you’ve accomplished your goals for this year…and you’re getting prepared for an exciting new year.
The world, and especially the Internet, is changing at light speed.
Here are some of the trends to keep an eye on for 2023…
1: More Government Bureaucracy
Let’s start this off with the safest prediction in history.
Governments around the world will continue their relentless pursuit of growing their budgets and adding more hassles to doing business online.
This means more you have to pay attention to depending on what and where you sell. This could include business licenses, sales taxes across many jurisdictions, VAT, privacy laws, etc.
None of this is a deal breaker, but it is more complicated than it was when I first started online…and we can expect this to only increase in the coming years.
2: AI Domination
AI is advancing at a ridiculous pace, bringing both the good and the bad.
There are already multiple companies with powerful image generating AIs such as Midjourney.
There are AI writing tools as well (Jasper, Rytr, Grammarly)…and even tools to help writing code.
Imagine all the breakthroughs that are likely to occur in science, medicine, and technology.
Google’s Search AI is trying to answer your questions/queries as efficiently as possible, and social media is using AI to feed you the content you’re most likely to get addicted to.
Google Ads wants you to rely on their AI even to our detriment.
They’re removing targeting options to expand you into as broad of an audience as possible…with the goal of letting their AI find your customers for you (which of course works to their advantage).
Your conversion tracking has to be excellent.
The majority of your leverage in this new world is in coming up with irresistible offers, great ad copy (which you let Google mix together), and strong, targeted landing pages.
It should come as no surprise that Google wants you to spend more on the ads themselves. Increasing your conversion and the lifetime value of each customer is vital!
And other advertising options are following the same playbook.
3: Short-Form & Personalized Videos
Short-form video is booming.
This includes TikTok, Youtube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. Youtube has even added tags to help with shopping for products through Shorts (and TikTok has launched its Shop also).
Long-form content is NOT going to die. But it’s the perfect time to start experimenting with shorter content of 60 seconds or less that you can produce faster.
Basically, that gives you time to give one good tip, one drill, one example, a short case study, etc.
I have a client that is also using short, personalized videos in direct messages and emails that include the prospect’s name and other details. There are a lot of tools to help you do this including Dubb.com, Vumu.io, and VideoForm.com.

4: Personalized Help and Support
Automation is good, but the Internet can become a lonely place because of it.
Social media makes your network a mile wide but an inch deep in many cases.
People are looking for that connection…that personal touch.
Some clients have put together monthly (or annual) memberships that include content, but also include a form of community.
They give their members a place they can connect with others.
But you can take this to another level with individual or small group help.
It doesn’t take thousands of customers to build an online business.
You can create a six-figure (or even seven-figure) practice by serving 10 to 100 clients in your niche market.
And you can transform the profits of any business by adding in a backend offer that serves high-end clients.
The more automated the Internet becomes…the more value people will see in personalized service.
