I’ve made a LOT of mistakes.
And I’ve had many failures.
That’s something you must get used to as an entrepreneur.
My first set of videos were horrible quality.
It’s embarrassing just thinking of them.
The lighting was bad. I wasn’t good on video.
I mispronounced words. That still hasn’t changed as it happens regularly today.
But I did the videos anyway.
You can and should study how to improve at everything you do.
It takes practice though.
And by nature, that means anything worth doing is worth doing ‘badly’ at first.
If you wait till you get it perfect, you’ll NEVER get started.
Those embarrassing videos were profitable.
And they were a stepping stone to creating better videos and courses in the future.
What if I never have the chutzpah to publish them?
Too many people allow their lives (and their businesses) to be caged by timidity.
Perhaps they have a small list, but they’re afraid to send out emails.
Someone may complain.
So, they sit on their list until their subscribers forget who they even are!
Maybe they send out an email, but it’s so bland and devoid of opinion that readers drop out before they’re even finished.
If you want your list to pay attention to you, you need to boldly claim a position. Tell your story. Start a fight with ‘common wisdom’ in your market. Be an advocate against what’s wrong in the industry. Stir up some emotion. And be willing to receive a few nasty emails from those who disagree.
Publish that video you’ve thought about creating.
Do it despite not being comfortable…and not liking how you look or sound on video.
You’re going to make mistakes. That’s OK. It’s what jump cuts are for.
Maybe you don’t know all the ways you could optimize your video for Youtube or whatever video platform you’re using.
So what? Do what you know to do. Keep learning and practicing.
Have you been invited to speak on a podcast, webinar, or even at a live conference?
Do it.
Speaking in front of a crowd was terrifying to me the first time I did it. Even after speaking for a few years, those butterflies still appeared in my stomach every time I spoke.
But it was still worth it. It attracted high quality clients. It made connections. It opened new doors.
Being an entrepreneur is NOT for those who want to build a castle in their comfort zone.
It’s for those who are willing to experiment and make some waves.
Do you have expertise you can share?
Take some private clients and help them one-on-one.
Or hold a class where you show a group how to get results.
Open up to a limited number of clients at first. This creates scarcity and keeps you from being overwhelmed.
If you’d like my step-by-step system for getting started with coaching others one-on-one or in groups, check out my Magnetic Mentoring course.
It will show you how to experience the “Ultimate Freedom Lifestyle” as you turn your expertise into a lucrative, rewarding, and fun online business…while making a bigger impact…and serving clients who love and appreciate you.
