What is your unique magic?

Most of my clients are coaches and course creators, but I also work with business owners in other industries such as a CPA and a restaurant owner.

The restauranter and I were recently discussing what makes his restaurant unique…and how he could continue growing this magic.

There are hundreds of restaurants in his local area. Yet, his stands out as a ‘must-visit’ location for those interested in his theme.

Did you catch that keyword? Theme.

It’s not just about the food. Of course, a restaurant needs amazing food. That’s a ‘price of entry’ benefit. But he has a lot of competitors who have good food too.

His ‘point of difference’ is the overall experience. It’s the combination of the food, the service, and the theme. He provides a wild steakhouse that transports you to a mountain lodge…even though he’s situated in the middle of the city.

This includes animal sounds in the parking lot, interior designs and murals that transport you outdoors, and a few more surprises he has planned for the near future.

It’s a memorable experience for his guests.

It’s about the feelings his guests have when they visit to his restaurant.  That’s what keeps them coming back and referring their friends.

He isn’t just selling food. He sells memories.

What about you?

What do you sell?

If your immediate answer to that question is your product or service category, then you’re limiting your business.

It doesn’t matter whether we’re talking about courses, coaching, ecommerce products, done-for-you services, etc.

Go beyond your products and services.

It’s easy to become a commodity in today’s super-competitive world.

That’s a pathway to stagnant sales and decreased margins. It’s the road to ruin.

What is the experience you deliver?

Think about your audience. What is their desperate problem? What do they want to change in their life or desire to become?

How is your solution superior to the competition?

What about you personally? What are your talents, skills, and experiences? What stories can you tell (your origin story is just one of these)?

In some cases, especially authority driven businesses like courses and coaching, YOU may be the uniqueness behind your business.

In other words, you’re in the business of being you.

Often, the magic that sets you apart is a combination of several of these factors.

But whatever it is…you must find your magic.

Otherwise, you’re just another parrot in an ocean full of me-too competitors.

If you’d like my help in finding the magic that sets you apart, I will be accepting a few new one-on-one coaching clients next week (August 7th).

Go here to find out full details about my private coaching and register for the waiting list.

I will ONLY be emailing those on that list about the openings when they’re available.

This will be the last time I accept new clients in 2023.
