End Your Excuses Before They End You

Now is not a good time!

How many times has that sentence flashed across your mind?

You could start an online business, but now is not a good time.

You could start a new ad campaign to grow your traffic, but now is not a good time.

You could add an additional back-end offer, but now is not a good time.

Here’s the reality. Everyone is busy. One of the most common complaints I hear in almost every market is how the audience feels overwhelmed and they simply don’t have time.

The ‘good time’ you’re waiting for may never come.

There will be new challenges in the future.

I’ve spoken to many new clients over the years who built up an email list, but they never consistently mailed to it. They were waiting for the right time to come. Weeks turned into months and eventually they had a list that hadn’t heard from them.

Sending out the right kind of messages can breathe life into that ‘dead list,’ but the longer you wait, the more value you lose from the list.

People join your list because they’re excited about the subject now. Over time they get distracted and move on to other opportunities. They forget who you are. Some of the addresses are no longer even checked. That list loses value every day you wait to contact them.

While time is the most common excuse, it’s definitely not the only one.

Maybe you’re not emailing your list because you don’t know what to send.

Send them an update about your course. Share a case study with them. Tell them something interesting that’s happened in your life that you relate back to your offer.

Or you’re afraid you don’t have any value to share.

Everyone experiences those feelings.

The only question you need to answer is whether you’re able to point your subscribers in the right direction. Can you help customers get results? That’s what’s important.

It’s not about having all the answers. Nobody knows it all.

And if you act like you do, no one is going to trust you, because they know you’re full of crap.

There are thousands of other excuses you could bring up. You don’t have enough money. Your mother didn’t love you. Even dogs don’t like you.

None of that matters (except the dogs – if they don’t like you there could be something wrong with you).

What matters is what you do or don’t do today.

The actions you take today determine your future.

Some people get a raw deal. There’s no question about that.

But you have to make a choice to do what it takes to succeed today, no matter what challenges you’re facing.
