Would you like a lifestyle of freedom, purpose, and confidence?

I was a failure.

It’s harsh, but at the beginning of 1996, that title described me.

I was a college drop-out working a series of dead-end jobs.

For example, I signed people up for credit cards in front of Sears, delivered newspapers, and sold satellite dishes door-to-door.

The last job I ever had…and every will have…was delivering pizzas for Little Caesars.

We were in debt and behind on our bills. Credit collectors were calling us constantly. I was afraid to even pick up the phone.

I had a collection of kits from multiple failed business opportunities collecting dust in the basement of our little rental house.

Then I discovered the Internet.

I bought my first PC on a Best Buy credit card, because it was one of our last remaining cards.

It would be an ancient thing today, but it was my doorway into a new lifestyle.

I was able to license some self-help videos and reports.

And started selling those online.

My biggest discovery over those first few months online was the importance of building an email list.

When you get someone to a website, you get one chance to make a sale.

Get them on a list, and you have multiple opportunities to make a connection and earn their trust.

I started earning a small stream of income almost immediately.

Within 6 months, I realized my monthly income was directly proportional to the size of my email list.

As my list grew, so did my income.

You might have heard someone quote $1 per subscriber per month. That’s about what I was earning per subscriber at the time. Others at the time said similar things and the number kind of caught on (that stat is more than two decades old).

You can earn significantly more than that if you’re attracting the right audience today.

Once I realized how important the list was, I concentrated on it.

Say Goodbye to pizza delivery.

Fast forward a few years and I was invited to speak about my success at conferences.

We issued a challenge. Attendees would see me send out an email to my list that brought in at least $10,000 over the weekend.

I did that several times, and the largest weekend in front of a live audience was $96,250. That was one email sent out just to my own list on a Friday morning with a deadline before the end of the day on Sunday. No partners. No other promotions. And that’s not even counting the sales at the conference where I was speaking.

From there, I grew a membership site…sold my first business…took 18 months completely off in 2004…and started my current business in 2006. Since that time, I’ve helped clients grow and profit from email lists in every type of market you can imagine (and probably some you can’t).

Through all the changes that have taken place on the Internet through all these years, email is still the primary driver of my profits.

Its discovery gave me freedom, purpose, and confidence in 1996.

Will it do the same for you today?
