Have you noticed that most listing building advice is difficult to implement?
And even worse…it often ends up attracting tire kickers and freebie seekers?
That’s because many list building systems are based on one person’s experience.
They found a good way to grow a list in their unique market.
And they teach the same methods they used to everyone else.
The problem is…your market might not be exactly the same as theirs.
The ‘pain points’ and ‘burning desires’ in your market might be different.
Your ideal customers and clients might not be hanging out in the same locations.
And your personality, skills, and experience level might be totally different as well.
In other words, the list building advice that worked for them might be wrong for you and your audience.
Think of it like a pair of shoes.
Someone might find shoes they absolutely love! These shoes are so comfortable. They’re so easy to walk in. The owner can’t understand why everyone else doesn’t buy the exact same shoes!
So, they recommend those men’s size 15 shoes to everyone they meet!
Others hear their glowing review and buy those exact shoes for themselves.
It doesn’t end well.
They’re way too big for most people! They trip over their own two feet.
Those shoes were a perfect fit for one person, but were agonizing for the majority.
And even if they adjusted the shoe size correctly…there’s still a good chance these shoes wouldn’t be the right fit for everyone.
There are different widths…different arch sizes…different styles…and different needs.
It sounds funny saying they recommended the same shoe size to everyone, because we all know better when it comes to shoes. And we know everyone isn’t going to like the same shoes.
But are you wearing the wrong ‘list building shoes’?
The exact same methods I’ve used to grow my list might not be the right choice for you.
I’ve helped hundreds of clients in different markets over the years.
And while there are a LOT of similarities in how my clients have grown big, responsive lists…I don’t believe any two clients had the EXACT same list building system in place.
There were always variations in what worked best for them.
These differences were often caused by the market itself…where they could find their ideal clients and the message they used to communicate with them.
In addition to this, each client needed a system that fit their own personality, skills, and resources.
