It’s EASY to get overwhelmed.
There are so many moving pieces in an online business.
Where and how should you get started?
Keep it simple.
#1: Choose a market
Too many people get stuck here.
You don’t have to get it perfect in the beginning. You do have to get it started.
Where you start today doesn’t have to be your final destination.
Start with something you know…that you have experience in.
Even better if you have a story to tell.
You’ll refine your message as you communicate with your audience.
You’ll get to know them better. As you produce content, you’ll find what resonates with them.
Have a dialogue. Respond to their questions. Ask them questions.
Find your niche inside the larger market over time.
#2: Publish infotainment.
This could be blogging, podcasting, video, etc.
Do some keyword research to find what your audience is looking for and what questions they’re asking.
Look at other authorities in the market to see what content is popular on their channels.
Begin sharing.
Again, you’re not going to get it perfect in the beginning. Just get it started.
A couple of years from now you’ll likely be embarrassed by the first few videos you produce.
It’s the nature of life.
But you can’t allow it to keep you from moving forward.
Step out. Produce content. Communicate with your audience.
#3: Build your email list.
On social media, you’re simply a guest in someone else’s home.
They make the rules. And they can change the rules any time they want.
Create a lead magnet such as a free video, ebook, or cheat sheet to entice people to join your email list.
Promote that free gift regularly in the content you share.
Build your email list and communicate consistently with them.
#4: Make offers.
If you don’t have any products or services of your own yet, endorse affiliate offers you know are a great deal for your audience.
Be their advocate…and find solutions that solve their problems.
Create your own offer.
This could be a done-for-you service or one-on-one coaching. Both are ways to earn a good income from a tiny list.
As your list grows, you can transition these to a group based program or streamline your services.
Create an irresistible frontend offer to turn subscribers into buyers. Use that as an easy doorway into your other more profitable offers.
Those 4 steps are where you should focus if you’re starting out…and they’re the foundation that keeps you on track for decades into the future.
