Simple Secret to Implementation

Do you ever struggle with getting stuff done?

I know I do at times.

That’s why I want to give you one of the simplest secrets that helps me get more done in less time.

Just the other day I was talking to one of my clients and he said it best…

“It’s not going to get done unless I have a deadline.”

There it is.

That’s true for me as well.

Parkinson’s Law says, “Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.”

If you have till next month to get it done, you can spend the next week goofing off on Facebook.

If it has to be done tomorrow, you’ll get your booty in gear.

I’ll add a few additional tips to go along with this.

Break big projects down into smaller steps and put deadlines on each of these as well.

Getting ready for a new offer to your list may involve writing sales copy, creating a website, plugging in the order form, writing the emails, and scheduling it all (and that doesn’t even account for creating the product if it’s not already done).

Sales copy takes several additional steps such as brainstorming, coming up with your hook, writing headlines, creating an outline, doing the rough draft, and several edits.

When does each step need to be finished to get the entire project done on time?

And can you tell someone about the deadline?

For example, announce to your list the new offer is coming out on January 2nd. Now you have a real deadline.

I’ve found working with a partner can provide similar motivation.

The copy has to be finished by the 20th so I can hand it to my partner for the next step in the process.

I don’t want to let him down.

Deadlines don’t ‘feel’ real to me personally until I’ve told someone about them.

It could be my subscribers, members, partners, friends, or coaches.

It’s too easy to simply keep moving your deadline without accountability.

I told you this secret was simple.

But it’s also powerful.

Break the project into individual doable steps.

Set a deadline for each.

Write it down and tell someone about the deadline!
