Today marks one week into the New Year.
Did you set any New Year’s Resolutions or goals for 2014?
How much progress have you made toward those goals so far?
Perhaps one or two of those goals have already fallen to the side.
That’s OK. There is no magical power behind a New Year’s resolution.
Instead, what is important is simply having a clear, defined vision you’re moving toward…whether you set it on at the beginning of the year or TODAY.
The biggest problem for entrepreneurs online today is distraction.
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by all the bright and shiny objects.
You plan to spend 10 minutes over on Facebook…and soon an hour is lost.
Each day you’re presented with multiple opportunities. If you’re going to stay on track, you have to say “No” to 90% of them.
That’s where your vision and goals come in. If a new opportunity is NOT a direct path to your goals, you don’t allow it to distract you.
That’s my first secret to staying focused…keeping my eyes on a clear vision of where I want to be by the end of the year.
Here’s the second secret.
Invest just 5 minutes a day in planning.
Set up ‘blocks’ of time where you write new emails, optimize traffic sources, create products, contact JV partners, etc.
Quit trying to multitask all throughout the day. Having social media or your email open while you’re doing other projects guarantees distraction.
Sit down for just 5 minutes at the end of the day or the beginning of the next day and block off your time for each required activity. Each day should have at least one time period (if not more) where you’re specifically moving closer to your goal.
Some people like to create these calendars in Google or in another online tool.
But personally I’m old school and find it much more real to me to physically write it out. There is a daily calendar sitting right beside me on my desk. I block off time periods for client meetings, answering emails, writing emails, creating products, writing sales copy, and everything else that brings in the money.
Give it a try…and see the difference it makes in 2014.
Marlon Sanders is a friend who has been online as long as I have…back in the stone ages of the Internet.
And he recently released the FIRST Internet Marketing Planner BY an Internet marketer exclusively FOR Internet marketers.
Knowing how vital planning is…and the quality of everything Marlon puts out…I purchased a copy of this product myself (yes, I actually paid for my own copy).
He has a special live Jumpstart training coming up on January 11th.
