I’ve learned to celebrate my crazy.
What does that mean?
It means not worrying about whether you’re ‘normal’ anymore.
What is normal anyway?
You weren’t designed to fit in.
You’re created to stand out.
School, college, and the corporate world are all designed to shut down your crazy…what sets you apart and makes you different.
Create good little worker bees who all just get along.
Don’t mess with the system.
Memorize this. Do that. Follow instructions. Fill inside the lines. If you stand out too much, you’re singled out. And maybe you’re let go, because you don’t fit their ‘culture.’
How dare you think or talk differently from the group?
Being an online entrepreneur allows you to throw out all that programming.
Is it any surprise TV is often called programming? That’s exactly what it was designed to do.
But let’s face it. It can be tough to break out of the mold you may have spent 20, 40, or even 60 years inside.
When you come online, it’s easy to fall into the same patterns of thinking and acting as everyone else.
This is your chance to set your own path and finally be your own person.
Celebrate your crazy for fun and profit.
What fascinates you so much that you could invest 3 or more years into the topic?
You don’t need to be balanced. In fact, you’re better off if you’re not balanced in an online message. Those who grab the most attention are extremists on their topic.
If you were back in school (or a corporate environment), and all you wanted to talk about were model trains…they’d think you were crazy.
That’s what this is all about.
Go full geek on model trains if that’s your fascination.
Write content about them. Build an authority site about the subject. Make deals and source not only the most popular trains, but also the hard to find ones for your ecommerce store.
Send emails about them. Post photos on social media. Make videos.
Wear your conductor hat if you want.
Feel free to display your weird for the world to see.
Be useful and entertaining to your target audience.
Quit worrying about what others outside your audience think about you.
Frankly, you don’t even need to worry about some of the audience thinks either. You only need a portion of them to be profitable as a small business.
Find a hungry buying audience and speak to them in their language. Mix in your weird personality. Stop sounding just like everyone else.
Add your humor, even if it’s a little off the wall.
You’re finally free to be yourself…and get paid for it instead of reprimanded for it.
There are many possible business models that allow you to celebrate your crazy, but my favorite is the information business.
Huge margins! Freedom lifestyle. Make a difference in the lives of others.
