I just took a quick look at my Facebook feed, and it seemed like half the posts were about the coronavirus.
Some were simply stats about it.
Others were in a panic.
As you know, Italy has pretty much locked down their country. And other governments around the world are struggling to contain it.
So, what’s my opinion about how dangerous it is?
I don’t know.
Contagious viruses are NOT my field of expertise.
What I do know is panic isn’t going to help.
And I’m thankful I work at home, because that means I get to avoid most of the insanity. And I don’t need to waste my time in any fruitless Facebook discussions about it.
But I do have a few clients who have been severely affected by the coronavirus.
Not the illness itself. No clients have reported having the virus to me.
Several clients though have seen major impacts in their businesses.
This is a devastating period for any type of travel company.
And if you sell in-person seminars and workshops, you’re facing a tough road the next few months as well.
Less people are registering for events and more cancellations are coming in.
This demonstrates a truth very few people talk about in online business.
Everything is NOT in your control!
And things aren’t always as easy as the internet gurus make them out to be.
The price of Freedom is vigilance.
As an entrepreneur you will face obstacles.
“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
It could be a virus appearing out of the blue.
This won’t be the only one. I can’t predict the repercussions of this one, but I can confidently predict we will see even worse ones in the near future.
It could be a big competitor copying one of your most profitable products.
It could be an ad source like Facebook or Google banning your ad account.
It could be a merchant account cancelling your ability to take credit cards.
Or it could even a business partner running off with your money.
Being an entrepreneur is an adventure.
It’s often fun!
But it also means solving tough problems… for both your clients and for yourself.
Being successful as an entrepreneur means developing at least a certain level of stubbornness.
Develop a vision.
Then be willing to fight for it.
Bring in advisors and mentors to help you along the way.
It’s not always easy.
But the freedom, fun, and financial rewards it gives you are so worth it.
