I mentioned the importance of becoming a tour guide to a new world above.
You can’t just be another parrot who repeats what everyone else is saying.
Instead, you need to carve your own path.
Be willing to say and do radical things compared to others in your market.
For example, I watch a financial advisor on Youtube from time to time.
Of course, he talks about saving, investing, and planning for retirement.
Everybody in the market does that.
And nothing fancy about his videos either. They’re just a talking head.
But one of the ways he sets himself apart is by frequently doing videos where he comments about popular financial articles which talk about how tough it is to retire today.
He critiques them and shows where they’re manipulating or ignoring the stats.
His message is about how people can retire…if they have a good plan.
That’s something people dream about.
They’re looking forward to this.
And they’re constantly bombarded with naysayers. He shows numbers from real people who are retiring or have retired to demonstrate what’s possible to that audience.
Basically, he is giving hope in a market paralyzed by fear.
There are many things he could likely do to expand on his message and grow his audience further, but that’s just a simple example.
What are the myths, mistakes, and misconceptions in your market?
How can you be an advocate for your listener…and be their voice on the topic?
What can you say to give them hope…reduce their fear…and get them excited about the future they now see?
Be a light in their darkness.
