I don’t like being put on a guru pedestal.

It just doesn’t feel right.

I didn’t succeed online because of my brilliance…although my wife does brag about me a little.

It was based on my experience.

I kept testing different approaches until I found out what worked.

And over the past two+ decades I’ve seen thousands of test results in my business and in hundreds of client markets.

If I hadn’t picked up quite a few tricks in that time something would be seriously wrong.

But here I want to share one of my most devastating mistakes…

I made myself too accessible.

You might say, “That doesn’t sound like a problem!

Oh, but it is.

In my first business I answered every email sent to me.

I didn’t even use templates to make it faster.

I personally answered each one.

Because I had such a large list, this meant there were times where I was spending up to 4 hours a day (yes, I counted it) just replying to emails.

Those weren’t clients. I didn’t even have one-on-one clients at the time.

Most were ‘suspects.’

A suspect is not even a prospect yet.

Many are looking for free advice.

I was so DUMB that I was essentially coaching clients for free.

Talk about charging too little! I was doing it for free!

Why should they buy anything when I’m giving myself away for free?

I eventually snapped out of this stupidity after one suspect stole as much knowledge as he could from me over several weeks…and then told me how he joined so-and-so’s coaching program instead of buying my product.

It was exactly what I deserved!

I was giving away my most valuable assets…my time and knowledge…for free.

That doesn’t mean you can’t reply to emails.

I read the majority of emails that get sent to me.

But I don’t provide detailed step-by-step answers to anyone unless they’re clients.

The majority of online marketers are doing too many things to make any real money.

They might not even notice the negativity that’s influencing them, but you can bet their spouse has.
