worlddominationLet’s get something out in the open first.

It’s tough to make a living selling one $10 ebook.

Sure, it’s possible.  Just about anything is possible.

You could write a best seller on Amazon, and it does so well you go full-time as soon as it is released.

But the odds are against you.

There’s a reason why casinos and lotteries are profitable to the owners.

It all has to do with who the odds favor.

You’ve probably noticed I’m not big on packaged one-size-fits-all business opportunities.

The numbers just don’t look good for the average person.

So how can you turn the odds in your favor?

The first method is by creating something you CONTROL.

This could be an information product, your own ecommerce store, a blog, or a unique message.

It’s yours.  You own it.

But here’s where many people mess up.

They think too small starting out.

They just create a cheap, low cost product to offer.

This is fine to TEST a market.  For example, doing a one hour interview which you sell for $10 is a great way to see if there is any interest at all in a market.

Put together a simple sales page or sales video.  Drive some targeted traffic to it.

If no one takes you up on your cheap offer…there may not be a lot of interest there.

You just saved yourself a world of hassles, money, and time.

What if you do get some bites?

It doesn’t even have to be profitable.  It just has to show promise.

That’s when you should think bigger.

Most people immediately start thinking of another cheap, low cost product to create.

Flip this around.

What is the most complete, most valuable product or service you could offer your audience?

In many cases, this could be a done-for-you service.

Perhaps you teach people how to publish their first book.

Maybe your FULL service option is a complete ghostwritten done-for-you book, full graphic design, all the ad  copy written for the covers, press releases sent out, and an Amazon best seller campaign to get it known in the marketplace.

Perhaps this total package costs $25,000.

Then work backwards from here.

Without the best seller campaign, maybe it’s $15,000.  Perhaps you have 2nd string writers who can get the entire book done for $5,000.  Maybe you teach a group coaching program showing all your secrets on how to do it yourself for $1,000.

You plug in a continuity membership site that shows writers how to promote their books monthly for $29.95.  Then you have multiple $2.99 Kindle ebooks that talk about how to come up with book ideas, write your book in 7 days or less, and how to format it for publishing.

You might say, “Woah…that’s too much!”

No it’s not.  People overestimate what they can accomplish in 1 year, and underestimate what they can accomplish in 3 years.

It’s called having a vision for your business.

Even if you start out by writing the low cost ebook to test the waters, you still see where the business is going.   That’s what being an entrepreneur is all about.

You see the future and pull it into existence for the lives of your clients.

Perhaps you can’t even figure out how you will accomplish the ‘big package’ right now?  It will take more team members and resources than you have available today.  That’s OK.

You don’t have to get to the destination tomorrow.

You just have to know where you’re going.
