‘After Earth’ wasn’t a very good movie, but this short speech was incredible.

If you’re going to be an entrepreneur, you’re going to face risks.

It’s part of the business.

That means you’ll continually confront fear.

It may be a fear of failure…which leads to procrastination or perfectionism.

If you never get started, you’ll never ‘fail.’

If you never finish the project, it can’t ‘fail’ either.  You simply never launched it.

The cure to both of these is stepping out of the ‘success/failure’ mentality.

Your goal as an entrepreneur is to fail as quickly and as often as possible.

Just don’t call it ‘failure.’

It’s testing.

You run your very first paid ad on Facebook.

It bombs.  So what?

The secret is to keep your failures small.  You set your daily budget on that first ad to only $5.  Within a couple of days you know the ad is not working and you’re only out $10.

Instead of spending 3 months putting together a full fledged membership with all the trimmings, test one of your bonuses as a special report or audio sold separately.

See what interest is already out there without investing too much.

Instead of putting together a full class on a subject, test doing a one-off webinar for free or low cost to see if there is interest.  If you can’t get people to come to the free webinar, it’s going to be tough to sell the product.

Run a survey of your audience before making a major transition in your business.

There is almost always a way to test something out cheaply.

But you can’t eliminate all the danger.

As an entrepreneur, danger is real but fear is a choice.

What story are you telling yourself?

I’ve often talked about how the clients who reach the greatest levels of success have confidence in themselves and reaching their goals.

It’s not arrogance.  They didn’t set out-of-this-world goals.  They set big goals, but they believed in their ability to move forward.

They constantly told themselves a story about success.

Others are telling themselves a completely different story.

It’s a story about why they can’t do it.  They’re too old.  They don’t have technical skills.  They aren’t smart enough.  It’s too hard.  They don’t have enough time, money, or help.  Nothing ever works out for them.

Which story are you telling yourself?

This is about more than belief.  It’s about the actions you take based on your beliefs.

You will eventually live the story you’re telling yourself.
