This was way before ‘social media’ as we know it today even existed.
But in the old days I discovered a simple ‘content marketing’ strategy that worked like crazy for me.
Participate in discussions by answering questions and sharing content.
Entice people to visit my website for more.
Offer a free lead magnet to get them to join my email list.
Stay in contact with them consistently to share value and make sales.
With all the twists and turns on the internet…including the rise of Google, Youtube, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, and so many others…
That same strategy is even more effective today!
Find a hungry buying audience that has a problem they want to solve.
Share value in an entertaining way.
Give them a reason to visit your website.
Offer a lead magnet to get them to join your email list.
Follow-up consistently with infotainment and offers.
These steps are simple and timeless.
But the majority sabotage their results with a few major mistakes!
Some never identify who their ideal buyers are or what problems they’re willing to pay money to solve.
Others build their castle on the sand.
They do all the hard work of attracting an audience on social media, but they never take the next step…or they wait too long.
They don’t bring them to their website and get them on their list.
Your social media following is NOT yours.
Let’s take Facebook for example. This applies to any social media site, but Facebook has been around long enough that we’ve seen them neuter so many people’s pages, groups, and businesses.
Are you building your business or Facebook’s brand?
Your Facebook page is NOT really yours.
You’re just a guest at their party.
A few years ago, Facebook cut the reach of pages.
They could do the same thing with any other ‘resource’ your business relies on.
They frequently ban ad accounts.
Yes, you should use social media.
Attend the big parties by getting your message in front of hungry buying audiences there.
But build your own home.
Get people to visit your website. Give them a reason to join your email list.
