One of the most common questions subscribers have been asking about my new Autoresponder Alchemy course is whether it shows you how to grow your list.

Yes, it does.

But I don’t cover list building until the 7th week of the course.  It’s one of the bonuses.

The primary purpose of the course is turning subscribers into buyers.  When you position yourself as a ‘trusted adviser,’ you become the obvious choice in your market.

You don’t need a large list.

When you put together emails my way, even a small targeted list of a few hundred can be very lucrative.

So many beginners want to put the cart before the horse.

What good would it do you to plug-in thousands of new subscribers BEFORE you have the right emails in the correct order?

They’d simply unsubscribe.  Or they’d tune you out and ignore you.

Or the worst possibility of all…they stay on your list.  They open your emails.  They click your links.  But they never become a buyer.

What you say and do in the first 30 days with a new subscriber sets the course for your future profits.

That’s why I go into detail and show exactly what to create in your email sequence before talking about growing your list.

Why waste all that time, effort, and money adding new subscribers only to flush them down the drain with a poor introduction to your series?

Besides, the most profitable period is often in the first 30 to 90 days.  If your list isn’t profitable in this time period, you’re either attracting the wrong subscribers or something is desperately wrong with your autoresponder messages.

Adding hundreds or even thousands of subscribers to a poor autoresponder sequence is like trying to fill water into a bucket full of holes.

Fix the holes.  Then fill the bucket.

I talked about earning $1 per subscriber per month from a list at conferences over a decade ago.

Yet people still quote that stat.  It varies widely by your market.

Some of my clients would go broke if they were only bringing in $1 per subscriber per month.  In their market, QUALITY subscribers can easily cost $20, $50, or more each.  That includes both paid advertising and outsourcing ‘free marketing’ in their niches.

List building is never ‘free.’

There is always an investment of time or money.

But if you bring in $100 for every $10 you spend…that’s the kind of deal you should take all day long!

The #1 secret to growing a list of buyers is having an autoresponder series that gives you a positive return-on-investment.

Once you have this, you simply need to tap into a fresh, hot source of buyers in your market.

Several strategies are covered in the bonus week…after you get your system in place.

Note: Yes, I’ve heard all the doomsayers who are terrified by what the new Gmail tabs are doing to their email marketing.  I’ll let you in on 5 ways to not only survive but thrive in this new email environment in my next post.
