My wife replies, “It’s on the bottom shelf.”
“I don’t see it.”
She says, “Move stuff around.”
I might find it if I move the majority of items from the bottom shelf to the counter first. Or I might get distracted by something else I find instead.
For some reason my wife enjoys hiding food from me in the fridge.
Or perhaps I’m suffering from a strange malady called male pattern blindness.
Either way, there are certain things that are difficult to spot.
For example, one of the tricks of editing your writing is to read it out loud. But even that won’t spot all the errors. Since you knew what you intended to say, you’re likely to read it the way it looks in your head rather than what the page actually says.
That’s why you need an outside editor for books. And even a professional editor can miss mistakes (it’s rare I don’t spot a mistake in books published by major publishing houses).
It’s even more important to have a professional go through your sales funnels.
It’s easy to miss common mistakes that sabotage your sales and profits.
For example, does your initial message connect with the conversation already going on in the head of your ideal clients?
Does your headline on your landing page continue the natural conversation your ad or your content already started?
Do you demonstrate you understand their desperate problem or their burning desire even better than they do themselves?
Does website have both an emotional and a logical flow from one section to the next?
Do you back up all your promises with multiple forms of proof?
Are you using your calls-to-action in the right places? Does your order form maximize sales? Do you have an easy-to-add bump to multiply the profits? Do your upsells and downsells continue the momentum you’ve built?
I could continue through all the steps of the product delivery, backend, positioning, email writing, etc., but I’m sure you get the point.
There are many tweaks that can maximize impact and profits at every step in the process.
And it doesn’t even matter how much you know.
It’s so easy to miss these triggers when you’re looking at your own business and funnels.
That’s why you need outside support. You need fresh eyes.
