The money is in your email list.
That’s been my reality for over 27 years now!
And it’s true for most of my clients as well.
But what if you don’t have an email list?
Or what if your list simply isn’t growing fast enough?
First, let’s deal with the elephant in the room.
It’s more difficult to get visitors to join your email list today.
No one wakes up in the morning desperate to join ANOTHER email list.
You must make it enticing.
You need a free lead magnet that’s worth their time.
It needs to be something that calls out to a desperate problem or fulfills a burning desire.
And at the same time…it needs to start building a bond with your new subscriber, calm their fears, and move them toward your product or service.
It’s NOT the format that matters. Clients currently use PDF cheat sheets, ebooks, videos, and even free courses.
It’s about the value you deliver.
You also need a way to consistently attract new subscribers to your list.
You can do this through paid ads, joint ventures, or content marketing.
Clients use a variety of methods to grow their lists, depending on their market and their own preferences.
For those who choose content marketing, Youtube is their favorite free list building method.
That’s not putting down any other platform. Others are used as well (surprisingly, Instagram is doing great for several clients).
A lot of viewers are looking for in-depth how-to information. They want to learn.
It’s the second largest search engine. And since Google owns it, you’re likely to show up in Google searches as well.
You can use long-form content to share and refine your message.
That gives you time to become a trusted advisor on your topic.
Video allows you to build a stronger bond with your viewers.
And you can tie in a call-to-action for your lead magnet while linking to it in your description.
Of course, you must get in front of a hungry audience.
Do your research. Find the longtail keyword phrases your audience is searching.
Learn how to write titles that include the keyword phrase along with a benefit and curiosity.
My clients use different methods to produce their videos.
One client does a lot of how-to videos where he or one of his coaches are on-screen.
Another uses a collection of video clips along with voiceovers.
Another uses screen capture videos.
Several use talking head videos. They choose a topic, create an outline, turn on their webcam, and talk.
Again, it depends on your market and your comfort on video. If you don’t want to be on video, that’s OK too, although it can hurt a little with the trusted advisor positioning.
No matter what you choose, it takes time to build an audience.
Create a schedule where you can consistently produce videos.
Grow your audience.
Point to your list.
Content marketing is just one of the ways you can use to grow a big, responsive email list today.
You too can attract a list of ready-to-buy subscribers with a personalized list building blueprint that’s quick, easy, and fun for you to implement.
