This is the tale of 2 internet business owners.
They were very much alike, these two young men.
Both had a limited budget to invest in their website.
Both were willing to ‘take action’ as they’ve so often been told.
And both were filled with ambitious dreams of their future online.
Fast forward a couple of years.
One was still struggling, wondering when they would catch their lucky break. Maybe this ‘internet stuff’ doesn’t work after all.
The other was a success earning both the income and experiencing the lifestyle they dreamed about for their family.
What made the difference?
We’ll call these two Joe and Bob for reference.
Why can two people start online at the same time and possibly even use the exact same traffic techniques…and have totally different results?
One fails and says it just doesn’t work for them. The other succeeds.
What’s the dividing point?
It almost always comes down to one of the basics.
You need to know what works. But let’s assume for the moment that both of these men knew the 3 basic rules for online success:
1. Target buying traffic.
2. Get them on a list.
3. Send offers.
As you probably expect, the truth goes a little deeper.
You don’t just target buying traffic.
You also need to get to KNOW them.
The better you understand your audience, the more focused you will be.
Joe took action immediately. He started advertising and used every single one of the shortcuts the gurus taught him.
He lost money. So he tried a different traffic technique. Same story. He lost money again.
He spent months running in circles, wondering why all those ‘insider techniques’ wouldn’t work. No matter what he did, he just couldn’t get those cheap clicks shown on all those video presentations.
Every new instant traffic course created the same poor results. Joe was still frustrated…and didn’t know what to do.
Bob took an entirely different approach. He acted a little slower. Instead of jumping into advertising, he took a few days to understand the audience.
He invested a little time lurking behind the scenes where they were sharing their most private thoughts.
He started understanding what their desperate problems were, why they responded to advertising, and what they were actually searching for online.
Bob was able to create ads and landing pages that spoke directly to the hearts of his prospects.
When Bob’s subscribers opened his emails, they felt the connection. They weren’t sure what it was, but something was different here.
Sure, Bob still had obstacles in the way of setting up his traffic systems, but he was able to overcome them. He knew his audience.
Joe never stood a chance, because he blindly created ads and landing pages based on what he thought his audience should be interested in. He wrote emails promoting one offer after another…without knowing what his subscribers truly desired.
