Copywriting was one of the key skills that changed my life.

Combine persuasive writing with an email list…and you have a dynamic duo for building a long-term profitable online business.

I’m so thankful I focused on these key areas instead of chasing the FOTM (Flavor of the Month).

And I recommend everyone in business at least learn the basics of persuasive writing.

Because even if you hire a copywriter to do it for you (or you use AI to create copy faster), you still need to be able to identify good writing.

But great copy doesn’t solve all problems.

Because even the greatest copywriter will fail if they’re chasing after the wrong audience.

If your business is doing poorly, that’s the first place to look.

Are you getting your message in front of a hungry buying audience?

Do they have the problem you solve?

Is it a problem that’s top of mind to them?

Are they willing and able to invest the money to solve the problem?

Talking to them directly is one of the best ways to answer these questions.

But you can also look at what they’re already buying.

Who else is selling similar products or services successfully to them?

One of the strategies I’ll commonly use is to look at competitors who are consistently doing well in paid advertising. Reverse engineer their landing pages using my 5-step Golden Glove method

Do this for 2 or 3 winners in the marketplace and you’ll have at least a basic understanding of what many customers are looking for.

Sometimes all it takes is to change who you’re trying to target…and where you’re trying to reach them.

Get your message in front of those most likely to buy.

That brings us to the second component.

You need an irresistible offer!

How can you deliver quicker and easier results…more reliably than the competition?

If you reserve engineered a few of your top competitors, you likely already have an idea about the types of offers that are working.

Are there aspects they all have in common?

Those might be ‘price of entry’ benefits. These are benefits you need to offer a minimum to even be in the running.

But you also want to look for a point of difference.

Why should a customer or client choose you over every other available option?

Too often entrepreneurs default to price…which can create a race to the bottom that no one wins.

This is where knowing your audience really comes into play.

What are they specifically looking for? Why have they been disappointed by other options in the past? How can your offer reassure that they’re making the right decision?

Of course, there is some crossover here with the copy you use in your websites, videos, and emails.

But you’ve got to get these two points right first.

Identify the most likely buying audience.

Create an irresistible offer.

Communicate it in an easy-to-understand way.

The Golden Glove Persuasion Map course goes beyond just the copywriting. It dives into the overall strategy of understanding the audience and mapping out an irresistible offer they want to buy.

It helps you create a clear, persuasion message that turns visitors into customers and clients.
