You’ve probably heard of “Amazon Bestseller” campaigns.

They’re a little cheesy, because someone with a large list recruits other list owners to promote their book on a specific day.

They give the buyers who send over their receipt a load of extra bonuses to get all the sales coming in before a specific deadline.

The goal is to get their book to the top of their category so they can call themselves an “Amazon Bestseller.”

Of course, this strategy works, because so many warm buyers get exposed to the book quickly. And the list owner can also promise reciprocal mailings for the other publishers who mail for them.

But what if you don’t have a big list?

Are you just out of luck?

No. Obviously, having a list makes it easier.

Having a big, responsive list makes everything more profitable!

But you can still have a great book launch.

The secret is planning and reaching out to influencers months ahead of the launch.

Prepare your book. Come up with an attention-grabbing title that also hits keywords you want to rank on in the subtitle.

Write a description that sells.

Get copies of your book to friends and associates before it’s up on Amazon. Ask them to review it as soon as it is available to help maximize the original sales run.

Run a special on your book and launch it at a discounted price of 99 cents.

Secure interviews on popular podcasts in your market in advance and ask the hosts if they could release the show near your launch date.

Use chapters of your book as guest blog posts and reach out to bloggers in advance as well.

Run ads on some of the popular deal websites such as Bookbub, Robinreads, Ereader News Today, and many others. Bookbub is the biggest, but also the most difficult to get into.

Run an Amazon sponsored ad campaign.

And of course, announce your book on any social media you’re a part of…especially with the limited time promo price.

Amazon likes books that sell. You have to get build the momentum and get sales coming in so you can show up in your chosen categories, Amazon search, and in book recommendations.
