You may already be receiving a bunch of emails making predictions about what’s going to happen around the world in 2014.
But the truth is…none of those really matter.
What matters is what happens in your life for 2014.
You have a choice.
You can continue to be overwhelmed, pulled in a thousand different directions, and struggling…or you can finally get the results you deserve in 2014.
Even successful entrepreneurs face this choice.
I know, because I speak with them every business day.
Your personal challenges may be unique to you, but there are common themes for every entrepreneur.
My clients put together their visions and their calendars for the next year each December and January.
They look at what worked for them this year…and what they can focus greater attention on next year.
We look for the 80/20 that’s producing their results.
I’ve mentioned previously that business strategy, writing, and coaching are my most profitable activities.
I ask you that same question today, “What is the most productive use of your time?”
If you’re investing 40 hours a week in your business, what are the most effective 8 hours?
If you’re investing 20 hours weekly, which 4 hours have produced results for you?
I’ve been asking my clients very similar questions.
Once we discover this, then we combine it with a clear vision of where they’re going.
Where do you want to be at the end of 2014? Who is your audience? And what value will you create for them?
Your reward this year will be proportional to the value you create for people in your audience.
Everyone says “Just take action.”
But that statement is dead wrong. It’s not just about action.
It’s about the right actions…taken consistently…to bring more value to a target audience.
Knowing the vision of where you’re going gives you the ability to say “No” to every project that doesn’t fit your goals.
Don’t just make New Year Resolutions this year. They have little to no value alone.
Instead, create a plan based on where you are right now. Make a calendar of actions to go with it. And then aggressively carry out your plan while saying “No” to every project outside your vision.
In other words, stay focused and daily moving toward your goal.
My prediction is you will make a choice this year.
If you choose to focus on the most effective use of your time, create a vision of where you’re going, and follow a daily/weekly calendar to get there…2014 will be the best year of your life.
If you choose to just take random actions and be tossed around by every new thing that comes your way… you’ll be no closer to your goals next December.
