Complicated sales funnels are all the rage nowadays.
And they’re effective for the right situation.
But a funnel doesn’t have to be complicated to be successful.
For example, I’ve had clients who simply started with an opt-in offer and promoted an affiliate offer immediately after opt-in.
From here, they just sent regular broadcast emails designed to build authority, establish a relationship, and make sales.
As they wrote and tested their emails, they took the best performers and added them back in as automated autoresponder messages and put together products based on the same themes.
There’s another popular two-step funnel used by consultants and coaches.
Put together a video that shares valuable contrarian content and also demonstrates your authority.
Add a free consultation or strategy session application form underneath it.
This application should ‘turn the tables’ on the selling process and get your potential clients to qualify themselves to you. Why should you accept them as a client?
You review the applications and then speak to them on the phone.
The call is NOT a sales call.
Instead you ask questions to determine the problem. You guide them and help them come up with a plan to solve the problem.
They leave the call with an action plan to move forward from there.
At the end of the call you offer your help to implement the plan you came up with together.
A coach may offer sessions where you can discuss and build the plan piece by piece.
A consultant or service provider may offer a full done-for-you service.
The original video demonstrated your value and authority.
The application turns the selling process around where the applicant needs to sell you on working with them.
And you demonstrate your value by helping them come up with an action plan on the call.
Only then do you offer them to take the next step with you.
This method is extremely effective.
And part of the beauty of it is that it doesn’t require you to have any products already done. You can speak with your audience, find out their biggest challenges, and help them individually.
By following this formula, you could easily expand out to a group coaching program or products designed for this audience, because you know what they want and are willing to pay for.
If you start generating too many leads, you can add a fee to the front-end consultation to pre-qualify and reduce the number of leads coming through.
It doesn’t have to be complicated to be successful.
