Add more proof.
And move the proof earlier.
For example, if you have a lot of testimonials, you might have a separate testimonials page. That’s good. But you should also mix your strongest testimonials throughout all the pages of your website, especially pages where you’re going for a sale.
Test putting a couple of testimonials right after your main headline.
Look throughout your website for anywhere you make a strong claim.
Ask yourself how you can back up that claim with proof. Is it credible?
There are times where I’ll even tone back the promise of a headline to make it more believable. Or I’ll turn it into a question so it gets a visitor to think instead of making a direct claim.
One of my clients had a couple of video testimonials in one of his sales videos.
We moved those video testimonials earlier in the presentation, after the first couple of minutes where he delivered his initial hook.
Can you guess the results?
If you guessed that using testimonials earlier in the video attracted significantly more sales, you got it right.
But testimonials are NOT the only form of proof.
Adding quotes from well-recognized authorities in the topic has been effective.
Multiple clients have seen a bump from adding credibility statistics near the top of their website. For example, how many clients have you served? How many subscribers do you have? How many followers do you have on your most popular social media channel? All of these can be effective if you have the numbers.
Share your background and origin story.
Why do you do what you do? What’s the mission that drives you?
What have people said about you personally? Have you been assigned any ‘titles’? If not, claim your own title. Dan Kennedy called himself the Millionaire Maker. Who are you…and why should we listen to you?
Proof doesn’t end when someone clicks the order button.
Add a few short testimonials to your order form, especially if they drive home the core benefit of your offer.
Add credibility images like secure cart and credit card logos.
