The Unusual Secret to Success

unsual secret to successThis secret isn’t talked about very often, especially not in internet marketing circles.

But it came to the forefront in my mind with a couple of recent clients I brought in last week.

They were already successful in their internet businesses, and they came to me to help them move to the next level of profits…and of course to help put more of an internet lifestyle plan in place.

They each said to me at least once how they got to where they were by experimenting.  They were sure this meant they were leaving money on the table somewhere.

And they’re correct.  They were missing out on opportunities.

But I want to talk about the attitude they had which created the success they had already reached.

They were successful online because they started experimenting, they practiced their skills, and they found what worked for them.

They didn’t have everything perfect, and they didn’t wait until they knew exactly what to do.  Instead they got moving while testing every step along the way.

This isn’t a popular message, but I’ve found you could describe many successful people with these 4 words:

Learn Less.  Do More.

And I say this as someone who absolutely loves to study.  I read blogs, books, and emails.  I listen to training audios and attend webinars.  I love to learn.

Yet success doesn’t come from the learning.  It comes from the action.

There is a world of difference between someone who has just studied marketing (you could easily insert investing, weight loss, or any other subject in here) and someone who has put it into action in their own life.

And learning never replaces the action…and the testing that takes place in your own life.

All your study is likely to put everything in nice, neat little box.  You know the “exact plan” to follow.

But that plan is crushed when it runs headlong into the brick wall of reality.

It’s rare in marketing to ever be able to say, “Everything went exactly to plan.”

Instead it’s a world of re-adjustments where you keep bringing yourself back on course.

No battle plan ever survived first contact with the enemy.”  General  Von Moltke (although credited to dozens of different generals online).

No marketing plan ever survives the first advertising campaign.  Once it’s put into action, you’ll see the adjustments that need to be made – all based of the results.

I’m sure there are people out there who simply don’t want to learn, but that hasn’t been the case with most internet marketers I’ve spoken with.  Instead they’re way too consumed with studying the next big launch instead of digging into the last one they purchased…and testing which parts work for them.

They want to get everything ordered perfectly before putting it out there.  That doesn’t work.

Instead do your absolute best and get it out there.  See the results.  Modify and improve along the way.
