Traffic Secret from Bruce Lee
“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who had practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
Internet marketing is simple, but it’s not easy.
When you break it down, there are 3 core aspects to online marketing:
You tap into a specific audience already available online. You convert those visitors into leads and sales. You come up with ways to monetize this traffic through advertising, products, or services.
The problem we all face is there are so many options for each of these.
You can drive yourself crazy just trying to learn them all…not to mention do them all.
And that’s why so many people fail at online marketing.
It’s impossible to do everything.
The good news is you don’t have to.
You don’t have to blog, participate in Facebook groups, post graphics to Pinterest, tweet, make connections on Linkedin, run Adwords ads, create Facebook pages, advertise on PPV, purchase solo ads, recruit affiliates, optimize for the search engines, write Kindle books, and everything in between.
I could probably write a couple of hundred activities there. I even published an ebook years back called 101 ways to drive traffic to your website.
You don’t need 101 ways to drive traffic. Oh, it sounds enticing. It sounds exciting.
You need 1 good traffic source.
That’s it. If you have one good way to tap into targeted buying traffic, you can grow your business.
Sure, you can add additional ones later after one is proven to work for you. You can even outsource other traffic methods because of the money coming in from the first one.
As Bruce Lee said, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once…”
The person trying 101 ways to drive traffic is the person practicing 10,000 different kicks. You’re never able to dig in and optimize the traffic source to work for you.
How many things have you ‘tried’ and not seen results from?
“I fear the man who had practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
Maybe their kick looked stupid at first, but they kept doing it until they mastered it.
What source of traffic as you mastering?
It doesn’t matter whether it’s Adwords, Facebook, affiliates, blogging, etc.
The point is you keep doing it until you know it. You’ve mastered it…and can reliably produce targeted buyers through your system.
The same principle can be applied to conversion and monetization.
You can generate conversions through sales pages, video sales letters, webinars, emails, etc.
My favorite method is email. You consistently send out emails that share content, build relationships, and connect you with your subscribers.
That’s the method I’ve used for over a decade to thrive in a market full of overhyped promises and unrealistic expectations. There are thousands of websites that promise instant money if you just click the ‘green button.’ We all desperately want that to be true. I’d want that to be true. It just isn’t.
Yet email can cut past all that garbage and make connections with subscribers based on reality.
That’s why I use it. That’s why in my opinion it’s the most valuable skill to master.
And it can be used to turn any source of quality traffic into a predictable, reliable source of income.
